Do's and Don'ts

Do make sure you drink plenty of fluids during the hotter months.
Do remember to ask for discount in the shops, particularly in the souqs, where it is the norm.
Do remember to wear a hat when outside during the day. The sun can be very fierce during the summer months.
Don't forget to watch out for camels on the roads when driving outside the town, especially at nite.
Don't drive off-road or into the desert unless you are with someone who knows the area well and has experience of driving in sand.
Don't show the sole of your shoe by crossing 1 leg over the other when sitting with a Qatari, it is considered insulting.
Don't forget to put strong sunblock on the tops of your feet when you are wearing open sandals .
